Pembina River Provincial Park
Pembina River Provincial Park is located near the towering Pembina River gorge. The gorge which has cliffs as high as 62 metres, was created by meltwaters from the retreat of glaciers during the Wisconsin Age. Wildlife include coyote, mule deer, white-tailed deer, moose, red squirrel, snowshoe hare, muskrat, badger, beaver, mink and occasionally black bear.
Lakes Rivers & Wetlands
One of Parkland County’s best-kept secrets is its hundreds of small lakes and wetlands scattered across the western and northern areas. Some of them, like Spring, Jackfish and Hubbles Lake, have been heavily developed while others, many unnamed, remain largely pristine aside from a few cottages or year-round homes. Those with public access are popular with Albertans as year-round destinations for boating, fishing, trail riding and other outdoor recreational pursuits.
Wabamun Lake Provincial Park
One of the great things about Wabamun Provincial Park is the family friendly beach area. It is accessible to anyone, not just campers, so it can get busy on those hot days. There is a large playground area, change rooms, bathrooms, showers, sandy beach, tons of space for picnics and grassy areas for games as well as a roped off swimming area. You can also launch your boat here as well, just down from the beach.
